Special Olympics Field Day

The Western MD Jaycees Volunteer at the Allegany County Special Olympics

The Western Maryland Jaycees have been helping with the Allegany County Special Olympics since its founding in the 1970's. Most Special Olympic Competitions were founded by Civic Organization like the Western MD Jaycees.

On May 5th, 2018 the Western MD Jaycees had a blast helping out with the Special Olympics at Mountain Ridge High School.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for citizens with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Thanks to all of our members who came out and volunteered with the Softball Toss and Javelin Throw!
